You Won’t Believe How Gigantic Structures Are Moved Across Continents!

In a feat of engineering brilliance, India’s Express Global Logistics (EXG) has successfully transported colossal modules to Saudi Arabia for an ambitious green hydrogen initiative. Each of the fourteen modules weighs up to 250 tonnes, boasting dimensions of 50 metres in length, 12 metres in width, and 18 metres in height. These massive structures required meticulous planning and precision handling to move a total weight of approximately 1,500 freight tonnes.

Utilizing Cutting-Edge Transport Technology

To achieve this logistical marvel, EXG leveraged advanced Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) from their innovative Megaload fleet. This included an impressive 48 axle lines and two power pack units, complemented by custom-engineered spacers. The transporters played a pivotal role in maneuvering the gigantic modules with ease and efficiency.

Mastering the Art of Cargo Transport

EXG adopted the roll-on roll-off (RoRo) technique to efficiently load eight modules onto a vessel using ramp plates and stools. This method ensured minimal risk of damage and seamless loading. For the remaining six modules, high-capacity crawler cranes hoisted the segments into position after being delivered to the jetty via SPMTs.

Collaborative Expertise and Strategic Design

The success of this sophisticated operation is a testament to EXG’s expert engineering and operational teams. Their precise equipment design and strategic deployment overcame the complex challenges posed by such heavyweight logistics. This achievement is further bolstered by EXG’s collaboration with Italian heavy transport specialist Fagioli, formed in January 2023 under the Megaload venture, enhancing their industrial sector capabilities.
